This week was so important as we had to define the scope of the project as well as to decide the important features to implement. We decided the webapp name “Savy” which allows users to get knowledge and understand more about recycling.
Primary features of the web app:
- Statistical information about recycling data within Canada which will be shown using interactive charts and map
- Recycling information for the new bees in Canada and which garbage goes into which bin
- Game or Quiz so users can understand recycling habits and re-engage to the webapp
- Users can download posters, wallpapers and printable instructions about bins for their personal use
This week, I continue to research on the MySQL installation using node to on local server and I succeed in that. Then, I have to try the same on the live server once we receive the domain and server credential from the Professor. I also researched on the couple of libraries (amcharts and chartjs) for data visualization which I already used few years back during my freelancing work. Most probably, we’ll go with the amchart and ammap for this project but we will decide that in next week’s meeting.
So, this week was all about research on database and data visualization library.
